St Alkelda’s in GiggleswickFiled in Photos on August 13th 06 . St Alkelda’s in Giggleswick is open to the public most days and provides an active centre to the village: while I was taking these photographs, two chaps were running through songs from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess one singing the barritone parts and the other on the electric piano. Drums were used in the 19th century as the Church could not afford an organ. I belive that the drums were recently refurbished and restored, but they no longer sit at the back of the church.
