I teach Maths at a Further Education College somewhere in the UK. I have been in teaching for about 15 years (must like it) and am now supporting colleagues and students using Information Learning Technology in their teaching and learning.
Current Nickname
- The Master – thanks to Paul S, the baddies always get the best lines and the nicest costumes. Roger Dalgado was a fine actor (Quatermass, Dr Who and the Avengers), and those suits were wicked...
Past experience
- Counting containers on Seaforth dock
- Degree in Physics
- Research in Cryogenics (superfluid helium, not freezing Californians)
- Sporadic photography, sometimes even earning a small income
- PGCE after a period as a part time teacher
- Various curriculum development projects over the years including unitisation of an Access programme, umpteen short courses and setting up a small Maths workshop (twice)
- Participation in Intranet developments, contributing to ILT Champion training manual, ILT related staff development
Current Projects
- Re-energising VLE activity in the College where I work
- Being creative with interactive whiteboards
- Simulating the Internetworking Protocol using a dozen 5” by 3” index cards
- Using a simple online forum to support students taking a Forensic Science module
- Loads of staff development
