Recent History (Web security)Filed in Forensic, Web on June 9th 05 . It all started in May of 2001. I began getting calls from companies I had tried selling security services to in the past but were never interested. Now they needed my help because something happened. It seemed like dozens of people had their websites defaced with the words: “fu*k USA Government, fu*k PoizonBOx.” It was the first time many companies had ever experienced a worm. And it would certainly not be the last. Mark Burnett’s article on how the Windows 2000 operating system forced Microsoft to take security seriously and led to Internet Security consultants taken seriously by companies makes interesting reading. I can remember Code Red – all the DNS servers stopped working so most people could not reach Web sites. This is filed under Forensic, Web.
